I read in a post somewhere that the DM guide adds the option of using spell points instead of slots. I did a forum search, but the results turn up posts with dozens of pages and I don't want to go combing through all of them to find it again. I've been playing Psions since 2nd edition, and it sounds like taking the Wizard or Sorcerer and using spell points may be the best way to emulate that ...
